HP ProCurve Product Switch Selector

I recently discovered a HP ProCurve tool that assists in the switch selection process, the Product Switch Selector.

This online tool is not exactly easy to find on the ProCurve site and I only discovered it by chance.  However, despite the fact that it is buried within the ProCurve site it does provide quite a intuitive interface for determining which of the HP ProCurve switch products would suit a customers requirements.

The first option that is presented is whether the system will display fixed port or modular switches or both.  The default is both unless you select otherwise.  There are additional six categories that will assist in the switch selection process.

• Available Ports
• Management
• Routing / Switching
• Max Port Speed
• Uplink Speed / Media
• and Other

Each of the categories have several options that when selected will display the switches that meet the customers criteria.

Hopefully HP will expand the capabilities of this online tool to include adding modules, gbic's, wireless controller, and access points.

Either way for those customers who don't know which switches will meet their needs this tool provides them with the ability to at the very least establish a solid foundation on which to add more components and devices.
